Terms of Use

Last updated: July 2026

These terms govern your use of Statmate ("the service"), available at statmate.app. By using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Statmate does

Statmate reads publicly available chess game data from the official Chess.com and Lichess APIs and presents statistical and engine-based analysis of it. It accesses only public data and does not require an account or login to use the core service.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the service for its intended purpose — analysing chess game data — and not to attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse it, or to use it in any way that violates applicable law or the terms of the underlying platforms (Chess.com and Lichess).

No affiliation

Statmate is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Chess.com or Lichess. All trademarks and game data belong to their respective owners. Statmate accesses their public APIs in line with their terms.

Accuracy and availability

The analysis is provided "as is." While Statmate aims to be accurate, it depends on data provided by third-party APIs and on chess engine evaluations, and it may contain errors or be unavailable at times. Nothing here is a guarantee of correctness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Analysis and insights are informational and should be treated as such.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Statmate and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
